Poulsbo Today
I know. The boat lives here in Poulsbo anyway. So why do we anchor out half a mile from our marina for the Third of July fireworks? It’s fun. It’s fun being a part of the mass of boats swaying with the breeze. Much better than tied to the dock.

A fix for flaky flares
My last post showed the sad state of the flares we had in our dinghy. Moisture took its toll.
We keep the most recent, expired set of flares in the dinghy. The newest non-expired, legal set are in the big boat (for any CG folks that might be reading). This time I got smart (I think) and vacuum packed the flares before I put them in the dinghy. Continue reading

Spring is here. Now is a great time to check the condition of all your safety gear. Be sure to check the expiration dates on your flares. I think these are a little past their prime.
Changing Motor Mounts – Part 2
We left our last exciting episode on a cliff hanger. The fancy Polyflex mounts didn’t fit and were sent back. New mounts from American Diesel were winging their way to us.
The new mounts arrived. Bruce foolishly came back to help once more.
Here are the old and new mounts. The new mount on the left is American Diesel’s part number 831-0326.
Changing Motor Mounts – Part 1
Last year, we bought new motor mounts from Poly Flex. I wrote about that here. It was a project for this winter. Time to get to it. I mustered the courage and conned my friend Bruce into helping me out. I figured he was good for all the hard stuff. Sooner or later he is going to get wise to me. I have to get as much work out of him as I can before he does.
