We are home

After a month on the hard in Port Townsend, we are back home in Poulsbo. Bruce came up to enjoy the ride back with me. Even though we were just moving the boat back home, Friday was a perfect day on the water.

I did my best to align the engines and shafts when we changed the mounts last year. Turns out my efforts resulted in .033″ on the port side and .028″ on the starboard side. I guess I should feel good about that considering I had never done this before. But the people who know what they are doing were able to get those numbers down to .003″ on the port side and .002″ on the starboard side. Continue reading

On the Hard in Port Townsend

We are on the hard at Sea Marine in Port Townsend. For three weeks now. We should be floating again on Friday. We have been chasing vibration problems for a while. This yard visit should resolve most of it. Fingers crossed.

And we are home

I fired up the engines, untied the lines, and we were off at 5:35 this morning. Time to head home. Wind speeds had been 19 knots overnight, but the indicator showed 1.5 knots this morning and everything was calm in Roche Harbor.

We have a drone!

Actually, it’s quadcopter. A DJI Phantom 2 Vision + quadcopter. It shoots stills and hi def video.

We took the new toy with us on our recent visit to the Gulf Islands. Here’s a collection of short clips I put together from the trip. Watch it full screen!

Roche Harbor to Seattle

The only casualty this trip was this water pump. I touched it and it broke at one of the connections. It was probably not my fault.

Port Townsend to Seattle

Well … for anyone returning in anticipation of a new, witty, and thoughtful post similar to what you have come to expect from the previous few weeks, I apologize. There is not much interesting to report.

We spent yesterday at the Point Hudson Marina in Port Townsend cleaning the boat. We washed down the kayaks and inflatable, cleaned the anchor and bow, washed the salt water off, and completed a few other minor projects. I added water to the batteries.

This Blue Heron hung out on the pilings near us most of the morning.

Garrison Bay to Port Townsend

The anchor came up at 8:05 this morning and we were on our way to Port Townsend. It was another beautiful morning in Garrison Bay. This the first time we’ve been here. It was pretty shallow when I got up in the morning. Low tide. Seven feet.
