We are home

After a month on the hard in Port Townsend, we are back home in Poulsbo. Bruce came up to enjoy the ride back with me. Even though we were just moving the boat back home, Friday was a perfect day on the water.

I did my best to align the engines and shafts when we changed the mounts last year. Turns out my efforts resulted in .033″ on the port side and .028″ on the starboard side. I guess I should feel good about that considering I had never done this before. But the people who know what they are doing were able to get those numbers down to .003″ on the port side and .002″ on the starboard side. Continue reading →

We are on the hard at Sea Marine in Port Townsend. For three weeks now. We should be floating again on Friday. We have been chasing vibration problems for a while. This yard visit should resolve most of it. Fingers crossed.

Headed to Sidney for brightwork work

We left Poulsbo early last Friday morning headed for Sidney, BC. Our destination was Avalon Brightwork in Sidney. It’s time for a little brightwork TLC on our old boat. The weather was great for the beginning of our trip. Winds were calm, sunrise was pretty, and the tide was ebbing in our favor most of the way north. A nice day to be on the boat.

Trawlerfest

Gulf Islands – The first week

OK. I know this is a bit late. So let’s roll the wayback machine back a couple weeks and pretend this post is timely. We just returned from two weeks in the Gulf Islands. We had such a great time that I didn’t keep the blog updated while we were on our voyage.

I’ve known Bruce for over 45 years now. We met in elementary school. Despite this, he foolishly agreed to come along with us for a week in the Gulf Islands. I had envisioned a week of indentured servitude where we (he) would get a bit of work done around the boat. Kim, on the other hand, thought we should let him participate in the relaxation and fun. Sadly, she won. That was probably good for Bruce, but the projects are still undone.
