More from the Grand Banks rendezvous

Another gorgeous morning in Roche Harbor. Americas Odyssey, a Grand Banks 49, is backing into the slip in the foreground. Funny that we should meet up with this boat. It was for sale in San Francisco for several years. Kim and I looked at it several times and seriously considered buying it at one point. It’s a beautiful boat.

Roche Harbor for the rendezvous

Another beautiful morning. This one started in Friday Harbor. We took care of a couple errands, cleaned the boat a bit, and headed for Roche Harbor.

North to Jones Island

We have the boat back. And we have the water filters installed. And now it’s time to head north to the San Juan Islands. We are bound for the annual Puget Sound Grand Banks Owners Association rendezvous at Roche Harbor at the end of the week.

We got a late start from Poulsbo (too many things to do and not enough time) so we decided to head for Mystery Bay. We’ve never been there before and now seemed like a good time. Just across from Port Townsend, it’s a convenient place to stop for the night and get an early start across the strait the next morning. We grabbed a buoy at the Mystery Bay State Park. The sky looked ominous, but it was calm and gorgeous.

No joy this weekend

We did not get the boat back this weekend. I’ll admit I didn’t think this trip to the yard would end up taking a month. We’ve got to get it back next Saturday. We are planning to head north to the San Juan Islands Sunday morning. The Grand Banks Rendezvous starts Thursday at Roche Harbor.

I couldn’t work on the boat so we went kayaking. And fine kayaking weather it was indeed.

I could sit and watch the world go by for hours on a beautiful Sunday morning like this.

Water Filtration Project – Part 3

First, let me apologize. I’m not really trying to turn this project into an epic event. If I’d done this when I had access to the boat, it would have taken half as long. Additionally, time to work on it is limited to weekends. And … we need to get the boat back next weekend so I can wrap this project up.  We are headed for a week in the San Juan Islands soon. With that said, here’s the progress I made this weekend.

This is where I ended up.

A short video from the Grand Banks rendezvous

Here’s a short video from the 2014 Grand Banks rendezvous in Roche Harbor shot by Ian McGhie from Stan Miller Yachts.

We just acquired one of these drone thingies. A DJI Phantom 2 Vision Plus. I hope to shoot some great video before I accidentally sink it.

Roche Harbor to Seattle

The only casualty this trip was this water pump. I touched it and it broke at one of the connections. It was probably not my fault.
